As the Urban Alliance grows, we are continually searching for creative ways to fund our programs of community facilitation, community education and the establishment of convergence centers. 'Tis our burden as non-profit do-gooders to ask of others to support our good work. However, we've come up with a win-win situation in which Allies can push the envelope of sustainability together by reaping the benefits of community and knowledge sharing.

By becoming a member of UAS, you will not only be supporting our efforts to integrate and inspire the sustainability movement -- you'll be receiving much more than our good work in return. We are offering some exciting and groundbreaking benefits that stand as revolutionary actions in and of themselves. Sure, you'll receive discounts to all UAS events, but you'll also have access to our Eco-nnect phone hotline to answer all of your burning sustainabilty questions. What's more, we'll be organizing neighborhood potlucks for UAS members and offering something we feel is totally unique -- a personalized sustainability consultation to give you ideas and inspiration for reducing your ecological footprint.

Membership Levels

Membership Benefits Explained

1. Website: Become an online ally and contribute to a growing resource for sustainable lifestyles. Currently you can add comments to interactive areas of the site and soon UAS will be adding additional opportunities for you to contribute content, share ideas and ask questions.

2. Eco-nnect: Call us for timely answers to all your sustainability questions. Call Eco-nnect and leave a voice mail message asking any sustainability-related question with which you would like support -- questions like, "where can I find non-VOC paints in Berkeley? or "where can I find info on biodiesel in San Francisco?" Messages will be checked and returned on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If the answer to your query is not immediately known, UAS will attempt to research a response and return your call as soon as we have exhausted our search. Over time, all questions and answers will be submitted to the UAS website to create a comprehensive sustainability FAQ of value to all.

3. Potluck: Tap your neighborhood roots with UAS facilitated gatherings of food and community. As soon as 10 additional allies are signed up in your area, UAS will facilitate a potluck inviting you and those other members so you can connect with individuals in your immediate neighborhood. An UAS ally will attend the event and facilitate discussion and help plan a following session. Your area will be defined by your zip code. You may be invited to more than one per year (depending on membership population in your area).

4. Sustainability Consultation: Meet with an experienced ally to help generate ideas and and inspiration for reducing your ecological footprint for an optional, one-hour consultation with an UAS ally. An ally will contact you to set up a one-on-one meeting, or by phone depending on your location, to review a template discussing your food options, water conservation opportunities, transportation, energy conservation, green career opportunities, social engagements, health, waste/resource (and more!) all specific to your region/neighborhood/zip code. You can think of this consultation as much an opportunity to share as an opportunity to learn. The ally that you consult with is charged with collecting information about all the amazing solutions you have discovered to then share with others. When time permits and with permission a modified carbon/footprint calculator will be used and filed for review the following year.
